Pour the wine, his last name is mine!
Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. Wedding season is in full swing, and with my own big day coming up fast, I’ve been struggling to keep up with my blogging.
I recently attended an AMAZING bachelorette party thrown by my AMAZING right-hand women, and I thought I share a bit about how we spent this AMAZING party in Wisconsin Dells.
Where We Stayed
Wisconsin Dells was chosen as the destination for the party because it acted as a central location for those of us spread out all over Wisconsin and Minnesota. We stayed at Christmas Mountain Resorts (yes, even though it was July). It had that log-cabin-y feel, perfect in keeping with our wedding-in-the-northwoods theme. (Side note: It is an extremely hilly and twisty resort area, and lots of families and children out and about. We were not expecting that on our drive in).
Friday night was for traveling and getting settled in our cabin. There was a fridge, oven, and dishwasher available, which was very convenient for our arrival after work. Everyone was able to bring snacks and drinks to save on costs. Frozen pizzas were a quick and easy dinner before heading to the hot tub! (The resort hot tub is open until 11:00 pm. Drinks are allowed as long as there is no glass.)
Pancakes and Pajamas
On Saturday morning my Maids of Honor threw me a Pancakes and Pajamas bridal shower! The kitchen and living area were open to each other, so it was a great area to have a breakfast bar and mimosas before the gift opening and bridal shower games. Also there is a coffee shop on the resort grounds that serves Starbucks coffee, so a few of us made a coffee run while the others were setting up for the shower (Gotta have my morning brew!)
As you may have noticed, I LOVE wine of all kinds. So it probably will not come as a surprise to you that our Saturday activities consisted of visiting local wineries! It’s safe to say I was “On Cloud Wine” the entire time;)
Prairie Hawk Winery
This was my favorite winery of the day. We arrived at noon right as they opened. It was about a twenty minute drive from Christmas Mountain, but we did run into some traffic downtown.
Since it was such a beautiful day we sat outside under the umbrella tables while the owner provided us samples of their wines. He was very sweet and informative. I thought they had a good variety of quality wines. I ended up leaving with a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Riesling.
After the tasting we split a few bottles, got some pretty pictures, and snacked on some more pizza and cheese platters. There was a bit of a wait for food because there were so many of us, not that it was bothering any of us at the time. But the owner was apologetic and even gave us a free pizza for having to wait.
I highly recommend making a stop here if you’re in the area!
Fawn Creek Winery
Fawn Creek Winery was much larger and more established than Prairie Hawk. They didn’t take reservations, but we were able to fit all 14 of us around one of their tasting tables. Their wines in general were a bit too sweet for me. However, I did enjoy the Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio.
One cool feature of this winery was the yard games available. While some of us sipped and chatted, the others played bean bags. They also had live music while we were there, and a pretty nice stage set-up near the tasting area.
Mulligan’s Bar and Grill
After the wineries, it was time to get ready for dinner and a night out on the town! We had a reservation at Mulligan’s Bar and Grill, a restaurant located at the resort. They had great food, and it was a convenient dinner stop for us.
They also had karaoke that night, which our party definitely took advantage of!
After we had had our fill of karaoke, we took an uber to the downtown area. Pretty happening place with lots of people and lots of dancing! While I’ll admit I do not remember the specifics of each bar we went to, we did spend a lot of time at Nig’s and The Showroom and had a blast all night long!
So if you’re looking for a budget-friendly, yet super awesome party that is a bit different than your normal going-out scene, Wisconsin Dells is a fabulous choice.
